Walk for Water events bring wells to developing countries

From coast to coast, people came out to support Help a Village Effort’s annual Walk for Water event, now in its 38th year.
H.A.V.E. chairman Ron Reid said this year 20 to 25 wells would be installed and 10 filtration systems put in place at schools in rural areas in developing countries.
“We have some really good projects on the go,” he said, before thanking the crowd for joining the walk on June 12.
“The walks in Newfoundland and Vancouver last week were very successful and so we’re really doing well this year,” he said.
Archie Stouffer Elementary School staff and students walked the same riverwalk path in a school-organized Walk for Water on June 19, and the annual Highlands Food and Beverage Showcase on June 15 at Winterdance raised both awareness and funds for the registered charity as well.
