Haliburton County youth joined worldwide action for climate change marches on March 15 in Lindsay and Barrie in solidarity with 16-year-old Swedish student and Nobel Peace Prize-nominated activist Greta Thunberg, who initiated the youth-led global school strike for climate change campaign.
Thunberg began skipping school for the cause last August, and has since addressed the United Nations Climate Change Conference and the World Economic Forum at Davos as an activist. Marches took place in more than 100 countries, including more than 70 marches in Canada with an estimated 1.5 million people taking part in the campaign.
Approximately 75 people attended the Lindsay march. The next Canada-wide march happens May 3
