A taste of the forest

By Darren Lum

It’s unknown how much the rain on Saturday put a damper on this year’s 13th annual Hike Haliburton Festival.

Marketed as the largest hiking festival in Canada with 70 guided hikes across Haliburton County from Sept. 17 to 20, the festival included food and entertainment such as Blister Ball’s featured band, the Betty and the Bobs.

There were 1,054 people pre-registered for the hikes. Attendance for the hikes and the events has not been finalized, but organizers hope it is close to 2,000.
